STORIES OF COMFORT

"It felt like something he would have built himself."

To the team at Monarch Remembrance, I wanted to write and thank you for the board you made for David's wake. You have to understand, David and I spent forty years in the scrap trade. We worked with our hands every day. We knew the difference between quality work and cheap rubbish. I was terrified of ordering something online and having a flimsy bit of cardboard turn up. But when I unpacked this, I actually teared up just feeling the weight of it. It's heavy. It's solid timber. It felt like something he would have built himself. It stood solid as a rock in the restaurant all afternoon, even with the grandkids crowding round to stick the photos on. It was the perfect centre point for him. Thank you for doing a proper job.

"I appreciate you being honest with me rather than just doing it and hoping for the best."

Hi guys, Just wanted to say a massive thanks for sorting the candles for my brothers. It meant a lot to get this right for Mum and Dad. Getting Dad's rank and service number spot on was the main thing for us, and it looks perfect. I also know I was a bit of a pain insisting on the photo engraving! I appreciate you being honest with me about how the wood grain might affect the picture, rather than just doing it and hoping for the best. Thanks for taking the time to send over those extra proofs so we could check the layout. You managed to get it looking brilliant in the end. My brothers are well chuffed with them. Thanks for the patience. Mr Glenton

"Reading those words back, it's like someone finally understood exactly who she was."

Dear Monarch, I wanted to thank you for the beautiful poem board you made for our Labrador, Mia. We've always been a family that travels, and the dogs were always the first ones in the car. It broke my heart thinking about the house without her in it. But having her poem on the wall, in those words, on that oak... it stopped me in my tracks the first time I read it. It's like someone finally understood exactly who she was. Not just a dog. Our girl. It's a small thing, but every time I walk past it I stop and read a line, and it brings me a lot of peace. Sadly, our other boy, Makka, has just been diagnosed with cancer, so we know we don't have long left with him either. It is a heavy time for us, but honestly, it is a comfort to know we'll be coming back to you for him when the time comes. Thank you for helping us remember her properly. Mrs Doab

BUILT ON SOMETHING REAL

"Because love doesn't end when life does"

When someone you love is gone, that love doesn't leave with them. It stays, and it needs somewhere to be.

We give that love
a home. Something heavy, something permanent, something you can reach out and touch on the days when you need them closest.
